Experiential Training:

Receiving & Providing Support During Non-Ordinary States of Consciousness

Training Dyads

As part of this training experience, you will be put in dyads.  You and your partner will:

  1. Support each other’s completion of the preparation exercises
  1. Alternate fulfilling the roles of providing and receiving support from one another during a non-ordinary state of consciousness:  Saturday Afternoon & Sunday Morning.

Deep Immersion Breathwork

We will be providing a general Soul Surfing Ketamine-Assisted Guided Breath Work Group Experience for all training participants:  in person and online.

Ketamine Experience

Online participants will NOT be experiencing ketamine or any other substance during this non-ordinary state of consciousness experience on Saturday Afternoon & Sunday Morning.

Therapists participating in person at the Salt Lake City, UT venue will be given the option to experience a low-dose (75 mg) ketamine lozenge during a facilitated group experience.  The therapists receiving the ketamine will receive support from their partner during their group-facilitated ketamine experience,. They will provide support to their partner on the alternate assigned ketamine experience day.

Ketamine Experience Options

*The ketamine experience will not be an option for online participants.

Option 1:  Experiencing a psycholitic low dose of a 75 mg oral ketamine lozenge

On Saturday, the partner receiving support will also receive ketamine.  On Sunday, the partners  will switch roles.  The partner providing support on Saturday will receive ketamine and support from the other partner.

Experiencing this low dose of ketamine lozenge will give you a sense of the difference between a non-ordinary state of consciousness experience using breathwork, music, and guided imagery with and without ketamine.

Option 2:  Observing and providing support to your training partner during his/her/their ketamine experience, but choosing not to experience ketamine yourself.  You may choose instead to receive your partner’s support through the deep immersive guided experience without ketamine.

Option 3:  You and your partner may choose not to participate in experiencing ketamine, but to provide and receive support to one another during the deep immersive guided group experience, and participate in the group processing afterward.

Rationale for Training Protocol (breathwork without, then breathwork with low-dose ketamine lozenge):

We are recommending you experience this protocol as a potential protocol to provide to your clients.  It offers a titrated precursor to the six-session foundational ketamine treatment.  It serves the purposes of:

  1. Experiencing the power of integrating music, breath, guided imagery, and curated verbal guiding, to support a process of connecting to inner wisdom/ inner healing intelligence.
  1. Experiencing a small dose of ketamine can familiarize a person with how it feels physically and emotionally.  It can also be helpful in assessing appropriate dosing for the six-session protocol bespoke to the degree of depth they would like to experience.  This protocol can help create a greater sense of safety and reduce potential anxiety about facing the unknown.

Ketamine Medical Consult & Prescription

The group ketamine facilitation is only available for training participants attending in person.

By choosing to participate in the ketamine-assisted group facilitation, you are agreeing to ingest only a 75-milligram lozenge.  The ketamine must be prescribed by a medical provider.

Dr. Gold and Danna Skoy are not medical providers and can not prescribe ketamine or other medications.

It is the training participant’s responsibility to:

  1.  Schedule and attend a medical consult appointment with psychiatric nurse practitioner,

Emily Van Os, or another ketamine prescriber of your choice

  1. Pay for the consultation and the cost of the prescription

Psychiatric nurse practitioner, Emily Van Os is familiar with the Soul Surfing training protocol and has agreed to meet with training participants to assess, screen for contraindications, and prescribe ketamine lozenges if appropriate, on a case-by-case basis.
